HOW TO DEVELOP SELF KNOWLEDGE

Self Awareness

Using counselling & Psychotherapy

to become more Self-Aware

This course is an introduction to using the Self Concept theory to help the person become more Self-Aware. Helping someone becoming more self-aware is an approach that takes place in the counselling room and my aim is to use counselling theory to deliver psycho-educational training.

My approach is based on the Humanistic Approach of Carl Rogers which has the person at it’s core; the person knows what is best for them but sometimes they need help in order to find out what it is that they need in order to maintain a healthier mind.

The Self-Concept offers:

  • a way of understanding internal communication and conflict

  • a way of understanding how we perceive ourselves

  • a way of understanding the impact our upbringing, family and friends has on how we perceive ourselves

  • a way of understanding how we make decisions

The training is based on three key beliefs:

  1. Conditions of worth can impact on how we perceive ourselves

  2. Denials and distortions can influence how we perceive ourselves

  3. Internal or external locus of evaluation impacts on how we perceive ourselves

The course takes place over a series of 3 sessions over 3 weeks.  Alternatively it could take place over a full days training.

The course covers a range of themes, which will interest people who would like to become more self-aware.

  • Introduction in understanding how we think/feel

  • Promoting emotional development

  • Increasing self awareness

Course aims:

  • Members acquiring and developing an understanding of fundamental self-ideas and how they can be applied in every day life.

  • Have considered themes including: emotional development, internal communication, and better sense of who they are.

Prejudices & Unconscious Biases

Using counselling & Psychotherapy

to become aware of our prejudices

This course aims to help a person to become more aware of their prejudices.

This training offers:

  • a way of understanding unconscious prejudices

  • a way of exploring known prejudices we might have

  • a way of understanding the impact our upbringing, family and friends has on our prejudices

  • a way of understanding how our prejudices impact on our lives

The training is based on three key beliefs:

  1. Prejudices could be on an unconscious level

  2. Prejudices which we are not aware of could impact on our relationships (personal and professional)

  3. Prejudices we are aware of might not belong to us
